Rushton and Mallinson invite you to explore dystopian fantasies as you immerse yourself in their interactive installation.
Inspired by dystopian narratives from science and speculative fiction, underpinned by posthuman theory Rushton and Mallinson’s work explores the human relationship to the natural world, the environmental impact of mass consumerism and potential consequences of climate change.
What to expect:
Installed in an empty shop in the central pedestrianised area of the shopping centre. Elements can be viewed from inside and outside the shop. We ask that you wear a mask and respect social distancing while inside the building. Drinks will be served and we invite you to stay and socialise in a sheltered outdoors event area. Please wear clothing suitable for the weather on the day.

Commissioned by Urban Wilderness as part of their #wastelands artist development programme which looks to create new art for public spaces in Stoke on Trent, and performed as part of The Happenings, a multi-art event in Stoke-on-Trent during September and October 2021.
